SoonerRide is Oklahoma's non-emergency transportation program for people being served by Medicaid.

You are eligible for SoonerRide transportation services if you have a valid Medicaid Card (except QMB and SLIMB-only clients, clients enrolled in SoonerCare Plus, and clients who are institutionalized).

SoonerRide services are available between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM on weekdays, and between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Saturdays.

Reservations may be made between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday by calling:

1-877-404-4500 (toll free)
1-800-722-0353 (TDD - Oklahoma Relay Center)
560-7999 (Tulsa area)
584-7209 (Tulsa area TDD)

When you call to make a reservation, you will need to provide the following information:

  • the name, address and phone number of the person with the medical appointment
  • the doctor's name and phone number
  • the full address of the location of the appointment, including which entrance
  • the date and time of the appointment
  • the time when you expect the appointment to be over
  • whether the person will be using a wheelchair, walker, or other assisting device
  • whether the person with the Medicaid appointment will be bringing an escort

Reservations for routine medical services must be made a minimum of three business days in advance, but can be made up to 14 days in advance. SoonerRide has the right to deny same-day or after-hour service if you can not give good cause as to why the reservation was not made before the three day deadline. You must schedule both your trip to the appointment and your trip home from the appointment at the same time.

When the reservation is made there will be a determination by SoonerRide as to the most appropriate mode of transportation. Transportation modes include para-transit, bus tickets or mileage reimbursement. Trip authorization numbers must be assigned for each trip, including those for which mileage reimbursement is approved. Reimbursement will not be approved for trips made without trip authorization numbers.

Only the Medicaid client, and an escort if needed, will be allowed on the SoonerRide vehicle. Children may not accompany adults when the appointment is for the adult. Children may ride only if they have a medical appointment. SoonerRide vehicles may transport other Medicaid clients in the vehicle with you.

SoonerRide drivers may only go to the front door or to a common area of an apartment, clinic, hospital, or office building. Drivers cannot come into the home, lift passengers, take wheelchairs up and down stairs, or carry packages or bags. Take with you only what you can carry and bring an escort if you will need assistance getting to or boarding the vehicle.

All passengers must wear a seat belt. Children under the age of 5 must ride in a child restraint seat, which you must provide. An adult must accompany children under the age of 15. Smoking is not allowed on the vehicle.

Passengers should be ready fifteen minutes prior to the agreed on time of pick-up. The vehicle is considered on time if it arrives fifteen minutes prior or fifteen minutes after the designated pick-up time. The driver cannot wait more than 5 minutes for a passenger.

When you are through with your appointment, you should stay in the pick-up area until your designated pick-up time. Your driver will give you a phone number to call if your appointment goes long or your vehicle is late.

Drivers can only take you to the destination agreed on at the time of the reservation. They cannot make additional stops.

If you need to cancel your trip, call SoonerRide as soon as possible. Failure to cancel your trip, or to cancel with less than one hour notice, will result in a 'no-show.' Three no-shows in a 90-day period will put you at risk of losing service. Passengers who misuse or abuse the service, or behave disruptively, may be denied SoonerRide non-emergency transportation service.
